The Splitrock Mining Company layout depicts a dedicated iron ore hauling railroad in 1969. It is set in Northern Minnesota between the Vermilion Iron Range and Two Harbors on the north shore of Lake Superior.

The layout was designed for operations with room for three operators.  Operations consist of; a Yard/Dock-job, Mainline Trains, and the Mine Runs.

The Splitrock is a multi-level HO layout using Digitrax control.  All motive power is from Alco, using Decoders from Soundtraxx.

The Splitrock layout has been featured in a few magazines, including the January 2023 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman, and the January 2024 issue of The Dispatcher’s Office.
