Light Rail Maintenance Base

(Note:  The pictures are divided among three pages to decrease the load time of each page.  I've left the photos relatively large, so be patient.  The shots were all taken by author Jeff Borne, and are in no particular order.  Captions where needed.)

On May 31, 2003, Metro Transit held an open house to show off what had been completed up to that point on the "Hiawatha Line" between downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America.  They opened up their maintenance and operating base, located on the site of the old Milwaukee Road coach yard near I-94 and Hiawatha Avenue, along with bus tours of the line.

TCD member Jeff Borne took these photos and wrote the accompanying article, which appears in the Winter '03/'04 issue of The Crossing Gate.

This map shows the route the LRV will take between Downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America.
